Created by Qiguo Hou, May 2, 2012

  • Announcing Clearvale April 2012 Release
Created by Lisa Braz, Apr 25, 2012
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We are happy to announce that we are releasing a new version of Clearvale on Friday, April 27, starting at 5:00 PM, PDT (12:00 Midnight UTC). Here is a summary of the features planned for this release:

SharePoint Integration.  Customers with Microsoft SharePoint systems can now access SharePoint documents within their Clearvale network. Once configured, they can share files to Clearvale from within SharePoint by using the Clearvale It command.

Alternatively, when adding files in Clearvale, they can access their SharePoint system and select the file to add.

Note that SharePoint files are not actually uploaded to Clearvale. Instead, Clearvale maintains a link to the file in the SharePoint system.  SharePoint files are marked as follows in Clearvale:

This integration is limited to SharePoint 2010 at this time.

Control audio/video file downloads.  Currently, you cannot prevent someone from downloading audio or video files that are uploaded to your network. A new network setting allows network administrators to enable file owners to control whether their audio and video files are downloadable. When set, the file owner can choose, on a case-by-case basis, whether their audio or video files are downloadable.

Checking the View Only checkbox prevents people from downloading the file. The Download link that usually appears next to these files is hidden from other users. Also, for embedded files, the embed code is also hidden. This feature is turned off by default. The network administrator can enable it by going to Admin>Network Administration.

Easier to maintain your profile. When you click Edit Settings, the new Edit Profile page appears. It looks as follows:

You now manage your profile picture from this page.  Also, you manage your name that appears within the network on this page, as opposed to using the Account Settings sub-tab.

Login field renamed. The Login field that you see when logging into Clearvale is being renamed as the Email field. This new label should enable new users to get started using Clearvale faster by helping them remember that their email address is their Clearvale login.

Activity point update. You no longer earn an activity point for rating a forum topic comment.  You can still rate the comments by indicating if they were helpful or not, but you do not earn an activity point for doing so. For details on earning activity points, see this section of online help.

Created by Qiguo Hou, Mar 8, 2012

Created by Qiguo Hou, Mar 8, 2012

  • Curious About Earning Activity Points in Clearvale?
Created by Lisa Braz, Mar 8, 2012
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

The most recent release of Clearvale introduced the idea of an activity point goal for all network members. For those curious about how activity points work, I just posted a Feature Spotlight document that talks about why you should set a network activity goal and how to earn more activity points. You can find the document here.

  • Clearvale version Mars 2012, seconde partie: Social Analytics
Created by Hugues Martin, Mar 5, 2012

    CAP : C= Connectivité, A= Activité, P=Popularité

  • Clearvale March Release, Part 2, Social Analytics
Created by Lisa Braz, Feb 24, 2012
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

Earlier this week I posted a blog about the new Clearvale release planned for early March. This blog finishes the discussion of the new release and covers the new Clearvale social analytics feature. There are actually two parts to analytics:

    • The ability for the network administrator to set network participation goals.
    • Reports (or graphs) that track network activity, in many cases tracking actual participation to the network goals.

    Setting Goals

Goals are simple to set—the administrator uses the Admin>Goal Assignment page to specify how many activity points they want network members to earn for a specific month. They can set goals for up to 6 months at a time. For example, maybe they want a goal of 30 activity points the first month for each network member, 40 points the second month, 50 points the third month, and so on.

The administrator simply fills in values in the fields highlighted in red and clicks Save. Clearvale calculates the rest of the numbers on this page for the weekly and quarterly goals for individual members as well as the network as a whole.

Once you set goals for your network, you can run reports to track the attainment of the goals.

    Understanding CAP Scores

In previous releases, the term CAP was shorthand for Clearvale Activity Points. In this new release, it has a new meaning that is much more than just activity points. Now when we refer to CAP, we are referring to a network member and a value that is assigned to them based on the following:

    CAP: C= Connectivity, A= Activity, P=Popularity

    • Connectivity. This metric measures the social reach of a member in the network - the number of people in the network the member has interacted with in the time period.
    • Activity. This metric measures the member’s activity - the number of activity points the member has earned in the time period.
    • Popularity. This metric measures the member’s popularity - how much the member's contribution is valued by other people in the network.

The activity score is normalized in the scale of 0-10. A member who achieves their activity points goal (set by the network administrator), earns an activity score of 7. For popularity and connectivity scores, when a member reaches network average, they earn a score of 7.

To earn a higher CAP score, a network member needs to work on increasing their connectivity, activity, and popularity. The range for a person’s CAP score is 0-10.

    About the Reports

Six reports are provided—4 for that track network activity as a whole and 2 that track your personal activity:

    Network Dashboard Report (network report)

This is essentially a dashboard where you can quickly see information about your network adoption. It looks similar to this:

To use these reports, choose a time period for your reports. Monthly reports are the default value.  Then refer to one of the four sub-reports:

    • The Member Login Trend report shows the number of network members, the number of unique members that logged into the network during the time period specified, and the number of members with an activity score of 0. Use this report to get an idea of the percentage of members logging in and how many are not participating at all.
    • The Popularity & Activity Report offers two views—the Popularity and Activity View or the Connectivity and Activity View. In these reports, the red lines indicate members who are close to reaching benchmark for the network. The data, shown in a scatter diagram, represents each network member. Reaching 7 on both axis means that the member has met the goal for activity points or has reached network average for connectivity and popularity for the time period. These graphs give the network administrator an idea of how active, connected, and popular the network members are compared to each other.
    • The Activity – Target Vs. Actual report shows the network activity points goal for the current time period as well as the actual amount of activity points accumulated.
    • The Network Content Breakdown shows a breakdown of the types of content added to the network.

Network Activity Target Vs. Actual Report (network report)

This report shows the network activity point goal versus the actual points accumulated for the time period selected.

    Network Engagement Report (network report)

This report shows details about the number of unique network visitors, the number of content items created, and the number of comments posted for the time period selected.

    Member Score Report (network report)

Use this report to see the connectivity, activity, and popularity CAP points and scores that each member has earned. Note that these numbers are generated based on formulae and the numbers are then normalized to a value between 0 and 10. Click the report that you want to generate, and then open the Excel file to see the report.

    My Dashboard Report (personal report)

To use these reports, choose a time period for your reports. Monthly reports are the default value.  Then refer to one of the four sub-reports:

    • The Activity – Actual Vs. Goals report shows the member’s activity goal for the time period selected and the number of activity points earned.
    • The CAP Trend Graph shows the CAP scores for the member over the time period selected.
    • The Network Comparison Chart is a radar chart that shows the member’s CAP scores compared to the network average over the time period selected.
    • The Content Breakdown shows a breakdown of the types of content that the member added to the network over the time period selected.

My Activity Target Vs. Actual Report (personal report)

This report shows the member activity point goal versus the actual points accumulated for the time period selected.

Note that most of these reports run once per day, at 10:30 PM, PST (6:30 AM, UTC). There is one exception, the content breakdown report, which is generated each time the page is refreshed.

    Accessing the Reports

To access these reports, we added a Network Reports widget for the Network page. Use this to quickly access the network reports.

Click More to display the Reports page, where you can toggle between network and personal reports.

Additionally, the Network Directory and Profile Directory widgets both include a link to the Reports page.

  • Découvrez la version "Mars 2012" de Clearvale
Created by Hugues Martin, Feb 24, 2012

  • Announcing the March Clearvale Release
Created by Lisa Braz, Feb 23, 2012
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We are excited to provide a sneak peak at the next release of Clearvale, planned for early March. Stay tuned to Clearvale Connect, as this blog covers just a part of the new features planned for the March Release. Later this week I’ll publish information on the new business analytics feature also planned for this release.

    Task Improvements

The task creation page is streamlined and now looks as follows:

We added a left-hand column for managing the task attachments and sub-steps.  Use the right side of the page to define the task, due date, and assignees.

In addition to the new layout of the task creation page, many other changes are planned for tasks:

    • Ability to specify the type of task. When creating a new task, you can now select the type of task.

In general, setting a task type does not change how the task works. The task type simply notifies the assignee what they are being asked to do—review a document, approve an expense report, attend an event, and so on. The exception is a task defined as an Approval task. Approval tasks have an “Approve” state instead of “Complete” and the button to complete an approval task is Approve instead of Complete.
    • Ability to set the task as important. As with files, you can flag the task as important. When you set a task as important, the importance flag turns orange. On your task list page, you can sort your tasks to list the important tasks first.
    • Ability to set a reminder for the task. When you specify a due date for a task or a step within a task, you have the option of specifying a reminder.

    • Changes to adding steps and attachments. Adding steps to a task and adding attachments is similar to past behavior, but has been streamlined. Basically, instead of showing each step in the main body of page, only the current step appears. For example:

Use the Steps area on the left to navigate among the steps by clicking on a step to make it the current step, or by clicking the arrows to move a step up or down in the series.
    • Ability to accept a task. When you are assigned a task, you now have the option to accept or decline a task. Accepting a task means that you plan to complete the task.
    • A new widget for managing tasks. This release also includes Tasks widget for your personal page. You can configure the widget to show the tasks that are assigned to you or tasks that you have assigned to others.

    • Changes to your task listing page. We made a few small changes on the page that lists the tasks assigned to you. The Filter options were updated to handle accepted tasks. We removed the Task Status column to simplify the page and added a column for the importance flag so that you can sort your tasks by importance.

    Network Groups

Network groups are similar to personal groups in that you can share content or assign tasks to the entire group of people in one click.  However, network groups differ from personal groups in that:

    • You must be a network owner or administrator to create a network group.
    • Any network groups created for your network are available for all network members to use.

To create a network group, as a network owner or administrator, click the Members tab, and then click Add in the Network Groups area.

Specify a name for the group and then select the network members to belong to the group.

Also note that when searching for members or groups to share content with or assign tasks, you can now limit the search results to one or more of the following:  all members, network groups, or just your personal groups.

By default, all options are selected.

    Activity Point Enhancements

We made a few adjustments to activity point management in this release:

    • On the Network page, we changed the name of the Most Active Members widget to the Activity Leaders widget. This widget not only shows the most active members in your network, it provides some tallies pertaining to total network activity. Previously, it listed the total points earned across the network for the current week and a lifetime total. In this release, two additional tallies are included—total points earned for the current month and total points earned for the current quarter.
    • On your personal page, in the Activity Points block, you will see information about your activity point accumulation for the current week, month, quarter, and lifetime. (Just the quarter tally is new here.)

    Content Rating Enhancement

In this new release, we will say goodbye to the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons and replace them with a simple question—Was this helpful?, followed by Yes and No buttons. It will look similar to the following:

Just like clicking the thumbs up or down icons, clicking the Yes or No button earns you one activity point. It also lets the owner of the content know whether you benefited from the shared information.

    Search Enhancements

Currently, when you enter more than one word in the Search field, you are conducting an "OR" search. Clearvale looks for text containing one or both of the words specified. In the new release, this is changing to an  "AND" search.  Clearvale will look for text containing both of the words specified. The new search results also take into account the time when content was last modified, rating recently modified content as more relevant and therefore mentioned earlier in the results. Additionally, you can control how results are sorted. The default sort order is by best match. But you can choose to sort results by most occurrences of the searched for text, most comments, or most positive ratings.

    This and That

    Other changes include:

    • Several APIs are being extended in the January release. In particular, we are expanding API methods for analytics, communities, poll, and tasks.
    • Networks created in the Clearvale Management Center will now have the Network page enabled by default. Also, the default login page will be the Network page.
    • If you want to receive Clearvale email notifications at additional email addresses, you can specify additional addresses on the Account Settings page.
    • If you are using an iPad and if you are a network owner or administrator, you will now see the Admin tab in your network when using an iPad. Use this tab to administer your network. Not all of the Admin sub-menu items are available when administering a network on an iPad. For example, the Appearance and Email Templates sub-menus are intentionally not provided.
    • For Clearvale users using mobile devices, we will provide a Tasks list that is separate from the Action Items tab.  If you click Tasks, you see the Tasks list page that offers the ability to see tasks assigned to you and tasks that you created.

    Business Analytics

Stay tuned to Clearvale Connect for information on the new business analytics feature also planned for the March release. Find out how to set activity goals for network members and then use the new reports that provide a comprehensive view of network activity.

  • Earn More Clearvale Activity Points
Created by Lisa Braz, Dec 2, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We are making a slight change to Clearvale today that makes it easier to accrue more activity points in Clearvale. As a result of this change, you will earn 3 activity points each time you add new content to your network. For example, if you upload a file or write a blog, you will earn 3 activity points for each activity.

You continue to earn 1 activity point when you edit content, rate content, and so on.

Your activity points appear on your personal page:

For complete information on how activity points work, see Earning Activity Points in the online help.

  • Dec 2, 2011 Patch
Created by Lisa Braz, Dec 1, 2011

The following issues will be addressed in a patch to Clearvale on December 2, 2011:

65664                 Fixed Japanese translation of the Allow Anonymous Member Option label on the Admin>Network Administration page.
65974 The Authentication>External Login Page tab has been removed.  This was only an information tab.  The feature of external login is still supported.
66039 Fixed problem on mingxigu.com networks that prevented the Admin>Authentication tab from appearing.
66049 Fixed problem of not being able to specify roles and communities for invited network members when using a network with an external login page.

Clearvale now sends the following parameters to the recipient code:
    •    invitation=1
    •    network=the network ID
    •    email=the user’s mail
    •    role=the role specified for the user (valid roles are reader, writer, moderator, or administrator)
    •    guids=one or more community GUIDs
    •    sig=the URL signature that can be used to confirm that the data is not being tampered with.

66050 Fixed a problem of user not able to login and not able to retrieve lost password.
    66106 Performance improvement.

    Activity Point Enhancement

This patch includes a slight change to activity point accrual. You will now earn 3 activity points when you add new content to your network instead of earning 1 point. Other activities, such as editing content or rating content, still gives you a single point. For complete information about how activity points work, see Earning Activity Points in the online help.

  • Release Ottobre 2011 di Clearvale
Created by Gabriella Jarratt, Oct 26, 2011

Created by Bing Gong, Oct 24, 2011

  • Monitoring network activity points
Created by Lisa Braz, Oct 19, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

A new feature is being added to Clearvale today--the ability to track the total activity points added to the network for the current week and the lifetime of the network. To see these tallies, the network admin needs to place the Most Active Members widget on the Network page of the network. The tallies appear at the bottom of this widget:

Additionally, if the network admin wants to display the total activity points for each member on the Members listing page, they can check the Show CAP in Member List Display Page setting on the Admin>Network Administration page.

After checking this option, when any network member displays the Members page, the lifetime cap for each member appears on this page.

Created by Richard Hughes, Oct 12, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We're in the process of making a few changes to Clearvale Connect. As the amount of content in the network has grown, the home page has become a little cluttered, so we're tidying this up a little. We hope it makes it easier for you to find the last information about Clearvale, but if you can't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Clearvale Release Planned for Friday, October 7, 2011
Created by Lisa Braz, Sep 27, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

The October release is just around the corner. We plan to deploy the new software Friday, October 7th, starting at 5:00 PM, PDT. We have lots of features planned, so let’s take a quick look….

Sequential tasks. You can now create tasks that define multiple steps. You can assign each step to one or more people.

Clearvale keeps track of who needs to do the current step, and notifies the next person when it is their turn to complete a step within the task.

Community administration. As a community owner or administrator, the Manage Members page now makes it easy to change roles for community members by providing a drop-down list for assigning community roles.

You can promote another community member up to your role level in the community. Additionally, you can demote their role down to community member. Community members are notified of any role change via their activity stream, or email (if they have configured email notifications).

Dedicated detail pages for status updates and notes. Status updates that you share with your followers and notes that you write on members’ pages now have their own detail page in cases where the status update or note generate a thread of comments.

Click the status or note label in your activity stream to link to the detail page.

Ability to better manage network invitations. Network owners and administrators can now delete pending network invitations. For example, if you invited several potential customers to your network, maybe a few were not interested in joining. You can now go to the Admin>Manage Members>Pending Invitations page and delete the pending invitations.

You can also delete the people listed on the Pending Validation tab. (These are people who requested to join the network, but did not follow through with clicking the validation link that was sent to their email.) If you are using a Clearvale ecosystem, you can now resend invitations to members who have not logged in and finished setting up their account.

Video conversion enhancements. Currently, all video files are automatically converted to the MP4 360p and WMV 360 p formats when you upload them to Clearvale. In the October release, the network owner or administrator can select an additional conversion format, MP4 720p, for higher resolution. Additionally, they can control which format conversions are used on their network. Options are:

    • MP4 720p, for higher resolution.
    • MP4 360p, for lower resolution.
    • WMV 360p, for lower resolution and viewing on Windows devices.

To set this preference, the network administrator selects Admin>Network Administration and then selects the desired video conversions for the network.

Also, on desktop browsers, video conversions for H264 and FLV are ready to play immediately. There is no waiting for conversion.

External widgets. External widgets are small applications that are installed as widgets within a network. They provide a way to include dynamic content from an external application in your network. In addition to creating external widgets for your own network, you can publish external widgets for use in other networks:

    • If you publish your external widget to your Account Library, any networks that are part of your Clearvale account can use the external widget.
    • If you publish your external widget to the Global Library, once BroadVision approves it, the widget is available for use by any other network in the Clearvale installation (for example, all clearvale.com networks or all mingxigu.com networks).

Odds and Ends.  In addition to the above-mentioned enhancements, there are some user interface enhancements:

    • Improved the activity stream and notification message related to content that is shared with multiple people or spaces.
    • Enabled a member picker in the To field when writing a message.
    • Reduced the number of green feedback popup messages.
    • Provided consistent hover text for truncated titles and names.
    • Improved the image upload process in the text editor.

  • Please upgrade your Clearvale iPhone App to v1.05
Created by Daniel Tam, Jul 25, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

If you are using the Clearvale iPhone App, please take the time to ensure that you have updated to the most recent version, v1.05.  We are planning to implement an upgrade to the Clearvale platform in a mid-September patch.   August 19, 2011 patch (approximately one month from now).  However, the patch is incompatible with earlier versions of the iPhone App.  As a result, if you choose not to upgrade your app to v1.05, you will be unable to utilize the Clearvale iPhone App after the patch has taken effect.

Please take the time over the next few weeks to update your Clearvale iPhone App.  This will ensure continuity of service on your device after the August 19 mid-September patch.

(Note: The original post stated that the patch would be applied August 19.  However, due to popular request we are holding off on this patch until mid-September, to provide users with more time to update their apps.)

  • Clearvale July Release Planned for Friday, July 29
Created by Lisa Braz, Jul 19, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

Look for the July release of Clearvale on Friday, July 29. The release will start rolling out after 5:00 PM, PDT.

    Highlights of the release are:

    • Daily email digest. Clearvale now provides a daily email digest of network activity. The digest is specific to each member, based on what they are following in the network. Network administrators determine at what time each day that members receive the digest. Network members can choose to opt in or out of the digest.
    • Private access mode. Network owners, administrators, and moderators  will no longer see members’ private information (such as blogs and files that are not shared with others) without first switching to private access mode. When done viewing private information, they should exit out of the mode.
    •  Personal Groups.  Any network member can create a personal group of users to which they want to share files, assign tasks, send messages, and so on.  You see only groups that you created.
    • Tasks. When defining a task, you can indicate whether all assignees or just one need to complete the task for it to be considered complete. Also, the page where you manage your tasks has been improved for easier task management. Also note, if you use calendars, you can no longer define your event as a task.
    • Additional notification preferences. You can choose to receive notification when new content is added or updated in communities that you are following.
    • New APIs. For Clearvale developers, many new APIs are available, including APIs for working with activity streams, blogs, tasks, polls, wiki pages, and bookmarks.

  • Clearvale Patch Planned for Friday, July 1
Created by Lisa Braz, Jun 30, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We are planning to release a Clearvale patch on Friday, July 1, that will slightly change a couple of Clearvale APIs. If your network is has the CV-API enabled, note the following changes:

    1. The new signature for membership.add_member is as follows:

    membership.add_member
email (required). The email address to use as the login for the new member.
pwd (required). The password for the new member.
firstname (required). The new member's first name.
lastname (required). The new member's last name.
role (required). One of the following roles: administrator, moderator, writer, reader, disabled
communities (required). Community IDs, separated with commas.

The add_member method now supports the case where the user is already registered in Clearvale.

    2. The membership.remove_member method behaves slightly differently. The member is no longer removed from Clearvale; instead, the member is disabled.

    3. The methods for adding and removing members in networks and communities now also work within an ecosystem. (The methods for adding and removing members in communities are communities.add_user_to_community and communities.remove_user_from_community.)

  • Preview of the July Release
Created by Lisa Braz, Jun 29, 2011
    Shared With: Clearvale Connect

We plan to roll out the July Release of Clearvale in the later half of July.  Here is a quick peek at the new features.

Groups. Anyone in the network can create groups of users. Groups of users are simply a collection of network members that you can treat like a single member. For example, you can invite a group to a community, assign a group a task, or share a file with a group. Groups are personal to you. You cannot use a group created by another network member.

To create a group, click the Members tab and then click Add in the Groups area:

Once you create a group, the group name appears along with the names of individual network members in places like the Choose Members popup window:

Note that while the group name appears in the Choose Members window, it does not appear in other places in Clearvale. For example, if you share a file with the Sales group, and then look at the share settings for the file, you will see the individuals that comprise the group, not the group name.

    Tasks

While tasks are not new in this release, you will notice that the UI has been improved and some enhancements have been made.

When creating a task, you can specify whether the task needs to be completed by all assignees or just one assignee:

When viewing the list the tasks assigned to you or the tasks that you have assigned to others, the UI has changed a bit. For example, if you hover over the Assigned To field, you will see a list of the specific people assigned a task.

The filters on these pages have also changed. The old filter New is renamed as Assigned.  And a new filter is provided for viewing declined tasks.

When viewing the detail page for a task, you will see more information about the task. For example, you can now see the status of the task for each assignee, and when it was last updated.

Private Access Mode.  In the past, network owners, administrators, and moderators saw all content in a network, even content where the owner set the privacy to Me.  In the July release, the default behavior for these administrative members is for this content not to be visible. If they need to see private content, they can choose to show it by selecting Enter Private Access Mode from the drop-down menu under their name at the top of the screen. When done viewing the network in this mode, select Exit Private Access Mode from the menu.

Notifications. The July release offers additional notification settings on the Edit Settings page. These new settings include:

    • The ability to receive a daily email digest of notification messages. The network administrator determines at what time of day you receive the email digest.
    • The ability to receive email notifications regarding the communities that you are following. In particular, you can now choose to receive email notifications when new content is added to these communities or when content is updated in these communities.

APIs. Lots of changes planned for the APIs for this release. In particular, we are adding APIs for:

    • Tasks
    • Wikis
    • Polls
    • Bookmarks

And the APIs for Blogs, User Profiles, and Analytics are being expanded. We are also modifying several other APIs to fix inconsistency issues. Stay tuned to Clearvale Connect for more information about the API changes as the release gets closer.

On Friday evening, June 3rd, after 5:00 PM PDT, we will release a new version of Clearvale. The process of upgrading all networks takes a couple of hours; however, your network should be unavailable for only a few minutes while your particular network is upgraded.

For details on the new features, read the All About the June Release blog.

The Clearvale June Release will be available soon!  Here is a quick preview of the new features:

Custom activity streams. You will be able to define custom stream filters based on the people, spaces, and content that you are following. For example, if you are in sales, you might want to show just updates from sales representatives and the sales community:

You can only include content in a custom stream that you are already following in the network. You may find that you need to follow some additional people or content to create the exact custom stream that you want.

Like other stream filters, you can switch the filter in your stream at any time. For example, you might want to toggle between seeing everything and just seeing sales-related updates.

To create a new stream, click the Plus icon next to the Streams drop-down list.

New editor. When creating or editing content, you will see a new, streamlined editor. The interface is simplified and additionally makes uploading images easier.

Your current content will transition seamlessly to the new editor.

When adding images in the editor, you can navigate to an image on your computer to upload, or you can simply refer to an image URL.

Video improvements. Clearvale will automatically convert uploaded videos to the MPEG-4 and WMV format so that the videos are suitable for streaming on most platforms. You can also select a preview image for the video. These changes do not impact embedded videos, which are stored on other sites, such as YouTube.

More activity points. Previously, only a small subset of network activities earned you activity points in Clearvale. In the June release, you will accumulate activity points by not only adding content to your network but by rating and following content. Each of these activities will earn you one activity point.

Invitation improvements. Assuming that your network allows all members to invite other network members, the interface for inviting members is simplified and easier to find—simply click Invite Members on the Members tab.

Customize network features. With Clearvale Enterprise, network administrators can customize the features that are available in the network. For example, administrators can choose to not allow polls or wikis in their network. You can change your mind at any time and re-enable the features. For example, if you disable polls, all existing polls in the network are hidden. If you later choose to enable polls, the previous polls will reappear in the network.

Mobile viewing enhancements. Google Apps Authentication is now provided for mobile viewing. Also, the Tasks - Action Items and Task Detail pages appear when viewing a Clearvale network on a mobile device.

Additional email notification preferences. You can specify additional email notification preferences. For example, you can indicate to send email notifications when someone assigns a task to you are sends you a message to your Clearvale inbox. To set preferences, click Edit Settings on your personal page and then click the Follow & Activity Settings. Scroll down the page to set your email notification preferences.

    Other enhancements:

    • Default forums are created automatically in all new spaces.
    • New APIs are provided for calendars and search. Some new restrictions are also included. In addition, see the note shared earlier here.
    • If you enabled the Clearvale API service for your network, and you have integrated Clearvale into another application, you can configure Clearvale to use the login page for your application. To do this, you need to customize your login page so that it authenticates against Clearvale as well.
    • You will receive a notification when file ownership is transferred to you.
    • You can go to www.clearvale.com to recover a lost Clearvale password.

  • June Release May Impact Your API Code
Created by Lisa Braz, May 3, 2011

If you have enabled the Clearvale API for your network, and your external systems use Clearvale APIs to access network data, note that for security reasons, we are disabling HTTP access to the following APIs in the June release of Clearvale:

    • cvauth.authenticate
    • membership.create_user
    • membership.update_member

If you are calling these APIs using HTTP, as of the June release, they will require the HTTPS protocol. You can go ahead and make this change now as the APIs currently support both protocols.

Stay tuned to Clearvale Connect for more information about the June release (planned for early June).
